A first-time speaker to KPS on Friday 20th February was JOHN HOOTON FIPF, FRPS, MFIAP
John is from Ireland and brought us a host of wonderful colour prints. He is captivated by the ever varying light and mood of Ireland's Atlantic coastline and brought superb pictures of the coast around the Dingle Peninsular. They were interspersed by a series of the interiors of derelict cottages in that area. A really stunning evening!

On Friday 13th February we were delighted to welcome MARTIN ADDISON FRPS on a return visit with his talk 'Looking outside the frame - how not to win competitions'
The talk concentrated upon making images which are creative, interesting and personally satisfying. Many of the projects suggested and illustrated were original and most unusual. They were further interspersed with short audio visual sequences.
A fascinating evening!

London Salon of Photography 2014
In Friday 6th February we should have been viewing a presentation from Sigma. Unfortunately, they sent a DVD which we weren't able to play. It was fortuous that we had in hand a CD of the pictures from the 2014 London Salon of Photography. This was most enjoyable!

Brian Swinyard and Keitth Cooper
On Friday 30th January we welcomed return visitors BRIAN SWINYARD MA (Photo),ARPS, EFIAP/b, DPAGB, BPE3*, PPSA and KEITH COOPER LRPS, LBPPA with their joint talk "Conventional and Digital Dabblers"
An excellent evening with prints and projected images from both speakers who worked well together. Brian with his love of filters making unconventional and creative images, and Keith with his obvious love of portraiture and landscape images.

Visit of Dorchester Camera Club Members
On Friday 23th January, we were delighted to welcome members of the Dorchester Club who brought along a selection of prints. We saw a successful CPAGB panel from Roland Tarr, a successful LRPS Panel from Rosie Mathison and a successful ARPS Panel from Margaret Homan Berry. Additionally, Tim Downton and Sue Buckland presented Nature and sports pictures and finally,John Tilsley who brought along some of his latest work which has been influenced by attending various workshops during 2014.

John Tilsley said: “Hopefully we will show you a good cross section of work from the 6 Photographers. I am sure this will give you an interesting variety of both subject and level and hopefully illustrate the success of the distinctions group we have been running for local camera club members in our area.”

Sue and Mike
On Friday 15th January, two of our own members sat at the computer and gave us an interesting evening of instruction.
Sue Wentworth showed some of the latest aspects of PTE8, also displayed the three sequences which gained her the LRPS. Later, Mike Martin demonstrated his techniques with Lightroom and the making of creative and "unusual" portraits.

Sarah Howard
On Friday 9th January, our speaker was SARAH HOWARD who is a "first-time" visitor to KPS. Sarah's talk was "An Image seen-the creative art of landscape"
An interesting evening when we were gently reminded about composition, lighting, leading lines, the rule of Thirds etc., all illustrated by projected images as explanation and example.
Sarah also displayed a good number of mounted colour prints, and finally reminded us of her personal workshops conducted both in this country and in parts of Europe.

Exhibition of pictures at Kingswood Library
Thanks to the members who kindly gave me a print for this display at Kingswood Library. It's there until the 21st of January.
Hopefully may attract a new member!

For our first speaker in 2015 we were delighted to welcome John Cooke, ARPS DPAGB AWPF EFIAP who explained his journey to gaining his many distinctions. It was an excellent opportunity to those members who are looking to apply for photographic awards.
The first half of the evening we enjoyed his AWPF and ARPS print panels, also the individual prints which gained him the DPAGB where he indicated marks gained for each print. In the second half we were shown a number of AV sequences which rounded off a very successful evening.

Christmas meeting
At the meeting on Friday 19th, we viewed the pictures taken during the year on all of the outings. The judging of the prints was by the audience on a 'knock-out' system and the eventual winner was our Programme Secretary, Adrian Herring, seen below with the winning print, and being presented with the beautiful trophy by our Social Secretary, Kevin Poole.
This trophy was very kindly donated by Kevin.
The meeting then enjoyed coffee and food brought by the members, and a most enjoyable social time with each other. Even the food was presented creatively!!

Andy Beel FRPS
On Friday 28th November, our speaker was one of our own members ANDY BEEL FRPS a Professional Photographer who specialises in Monochrome Photography. The title of his talk was "The Digital Monochrome Print" This was a masterclass in technique and I am sure many members were in awe when seeing an A3 print straight from the camera, side by side with the finished mounted print.
