JANUARY

We get withdrawal symptoms if Barry is not included in the Programme so he is back with Wildlife of Florida, Kenya etc, including Yellowstone and a section on “Bats”

Fri 13 DIGITAL WORKSHOP
It is all about Photoshop tonight - demonstrations, questions and, hopefully, answers.

Fri 20 MIKE CHALLENGER ARPS
Last of the Summer Wine
It is always great to have a talented member of our Society show us his work. Tonight Mike will show us a collection of his prints about the photographic adventures of two old buffers in the Great American South West.

Fri 27 KINGSWOOD ARCHIVES
Presented by our President John Long ARPS, DPAGB, Hon PAGB
They don’t come out very often, so make sure you came along and see them. John will present some of the many KPS prints he keeps under his bed. He tells me he will shortly have to get a stepladder to get in and out?

FEBRUARY

The Great Outdoors
Nick is a first time visitor to the Society. He will show us a combination of landscape and nature photography to show his appreciation of our “Great Outdoors”

Foto- Synthesis
It gives us great pleasure to welcome two great photographers and friends of the Society. Clive and Martin will be presenting panels of thematically-related prints on a variety of topics. The show will be presented (on what I call a modern clothes horse). In fact it is a purpose built 21 foot wide illuminated presentation stand, a work of art in itself. Come early if you want a seat.

Fri 17 LEIGH PRESTON FRPS, EFIAP, MPAGB
Silver Prints and Golden oldies
A favourite speaker of the Society. Tonight Leigh will show us a Retrospective of his Darkroom work (monochrome prints) and believe you me we are in for a feast of black and white photography, and no doubt he will throw in a few “old” jokes.

Fri 24 FIRST QUARTERLY COMPETITION
This is the first instalment of our competition season. The judge presiding will be Mike Curtis ARPS.

MARCH
Fri 2 PAGB ANNUAL Digital Image EXHIBITION 2011
A presentation of the Final Competition, that many clubs, which make up the Photographic Alliance of Great Britain take part in, held annually at Warwick University. The best of club photography will be seen so it is a night not to be missed.

P.G.Tips – Fiddling and Diddling
Peter is from Stourbridge and has been to us on numerous occasions. Tonight he will show us a selection of prints produced between 2007 and 2009. We are in for a treat

Members of Backwell Camera Club will present a selection of their work.

Scotland – Land of Landscapes
Duncan is another first time visitor to the Society and hails from, Guess Where? Tonight he will show us Digital images/slides of many Scottish Landscapes. Come along and get a breath of the magical Highlands. HANDING IN FOR AP/FT COMPETITIONS

An Evening with the Millwards
Some more well known visitors from the Midlands, our Programme would not be the same without them!. Tonight Alan will show his people prints and Anne will show pale and interesting vignettes of times gone by, with some nature. All of which will show us that two people in the same place can take different pictures. Alan & Anne are sponsored by Fotospeed.

APRIL
Fri 6 GOOD FRIDAY - NO MEETING

A to F and the Bits in Between
This is Rosie’s first visit to the Society and in her talk tonight she will show us her ‘A’ and ‘F’ Panels and a selection of work she has done whilst working towards these goals. After the break Rosie will take us to Ethiopia – Looks like an exciting night in store.

Fri 20 BOB BISHOP*
There’s a First Time for Everything
Bob is another first time visitor to the Society. He is a local lad from Nailsea and tonight will firstly show us prints of landscapes and other subjects. After the break he will present some AVs

Fri 27 AP/FT COMPETITION
The best set of three related digital images and prints will be awarded the AP and FT trophies respectively tonight. Our Judge is TBA.

MAY
Fri 4 STUDIO NIGHT
Another of Steve Cox’s famous studio nights. Be sure to bring your cameras.

Fri 11 NEW MEMBERS NIGHT
This evening is for members who have joined in the last few years and would like to show us their work and tell us how they have progressed in their time with us. So don’t be shy bring as much as you like.

Fri 18 MARK MUMFORD FRPS*
Gorilla in a Yellow Field (Surrealism)
This is Mark’s first visit and comes highly recommended. He will show us his surreal digital images, images for which he has become well known. Mark talks about his work as a watercolour artist and the development of his very creative digital photographic manipulation. Don’t miss this one.

Fri 25 SECOND QUARTERLY COMPETITION
We welcome back Barry Mead FRPS, EFIAP, DPAGB to judge what we hope will be a challenging set of images

JUNE
Fri 1 CRITIQUE EVENING Another evening where you can bring your past competition work (around 6 prints each) to show to your fellow members for their enjoyment and comment.

Fri 8 JENNY BYRAM AFIAP, DPAGB
There and Back Again
Although technically, not a first time visitor to the Society, this will be the first time that Jenny gives a talk without her husband Tony. Jenny will show us a series of short digital sequences illustrating travels, songs and her current photography.

Fri 15 JOHN HODDINOTT & MIKE MARTIN
It is always a treat to see our own members’ work. Both John and Mike experienced particular acclaim for their images last year. Do come along to see what they have been up to, especially as their styles are so different.

Fri 22 DIGITAL WORKSHOP Another of those evenings when you can ask questions that have been puzzling you about Photoshop. We will do our best to provide the answers.

The places for the summer outings will be made known at the beginning of June.

A Wet Night In!
This is Penny and Spike’s first visit to the Society and tonight they will show us their world of underwater photography, taken mainly in Indonesia and the Maldives, plus some local species. This is something few of us usually see so make sure you do not miss this wonderful experience.

Fri 10 FOURTH ANNUAL AV FORUM
Tonight provides an opportunity for members to show sequences of their images to music or present them to tell a story. Remember to bring along the AVs you have created.

Fri 17 WCPF TRAVELLING PRINT CRITIQUE
This evening you will be able to see the best of the prints that did not quite make the WCPF Members’ Annual Exhibition held earlier in the year, you might have one in tonight’s show. That is if you entered the exhibition of course. Why not participate next time if you did not enter this year?

Svalbard and the Artic Circle. Kingdom of the Ice Bear
More first time visitors who will bring us back from their latest major expedition on an historic Icebreaker plus Digital Images of frozen landscapes and close encounters with polar bears and walruses plus a few short video clips to finish – We are told this is a magnificent show and one not to miss.

Fri 5 CRITIQUE EVENING
Bring along a few prints each and see what your fellow members think about them. You may be surprised to learn you have a few winners amongst them. We are always poor judges of our own work, so let someone else have a look.

Sun 7 KPS CONVENTION
This is to be held at THE POUND ARTS CENTRE at Corsham
Early booking for tickets is recommended for the Society’s 2012 Convention. The speakers are Des Clinton FRPS, Tony Dudley and Gijs van Gent. KPS is grateful to Fotospeed who will sponsor this community event.

People Photography
This is Celia’s second visit to the Society and tonight she will present ideas and techniques for improving your photography of people, indoors and out. There will be several short slide shows with tips on how we should tackle taking people pictures both at home and abroad. Don’t miss out and come and see how this very creative professional photographer works.

Fri 9 MEMBERS ANNUAL EXHIBITION
Tonight you can bring your friends and family along to see your work on our exhibition boards and, guess what, it is FREE entry for everyone. Even the refreshments will be on the House, followed by the Presentation of the Trophies to the winning entrants. Will you be amongst them? Make sure you enter to stand a chance. The judges are Brian Swinyard ARPS, EFIAP, DPAGB, PSA1*, BPE2*, Leigh Woolford, and Peter McCloskey FRPS, APAGB

Fri 16 ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Tonight might make a difference to our Society for next year. If you do not come you can’t complain if you do not like any changes that are made.

Rio Grande Experience
Another visit from this Railway mad Bristol based photographer. It is always good to welcome Terry to our Society. He does not show just railway pictures because there are always stories behind them and tonight he takes us across The Rocky Mountains from the Mile High City to the Golden Gate Bridge. Come and get the smell of steam up your nose.

Fri 30 HUGH MILSOM (ON CD)
I am afraid I could not persuade Hugh to come in person, but I did the next best thing and asked him to make a CD containing the best of his superb Infra-red pictures and his selection of the wonderful pastel landscapes for which he is so well known. I know his many followers will be sure they do not miss this evening.

DECEMBER

Digital Capture Around the World
It would not be the same if we didn’t have John to open or close our programme. We always know we are in for a visual treat when he visits us and I can assure you tonight will be no different as we sign off our speakers for 2012, with John’s digital projection.

Fri 14 FOURTH QUARTERLY COMPETITION
Tonight is the final competition of this season. Our judge is Dr Graham Reeves FRPS, EFIAP and he will tell us the winners and of course the losers.

Fri 21 PARTY TIME
Time for those of us with hair to let it down! I wonder what is in store.
